I am very honored to be involved with one of the organizations that is included in the Idaho Gives 2014, Day of Giving this Thursday, May 1st. That organization is the Killebrew Miracle League of Payette.
There are about 250 Miracle League fields throughout the United States as well as a few other countries. Their purpose is to provide a safe sports field for handicapped and disabled kids to play baseball on. The field is custom designed and smaller than a regulation baseball field. There’s a “buddy” system that matches up a community member with every player that steps or rolls out onto the field.
Baseball Hall of Famer, Harmon Killebrew, was born and raised in Payette, Idaho. Harmon and his wife Nita, have successfully spearheaded the completion of other Miracle League fields in other states. But, one of his last wishes was to see a Miracle League Field available in his home state and home town.
Please consider making a donation on this annual Day of Giving by going to the Idaho Gives website. Thank you for helping us complete Harmon’s and the communities vision and also that of worthy Miracle League players that will be able to use the Field.
