Christmas events abound this month in Ontario, Payette, Weiser area

You best get your best pair of running shoes on, if you even want to put a slight dent in the Christmas happenings that are going on this month in our tri-county area!

Let no one say there is nothing to do in our area, when it comes to Christmas and holiday festivities. From bazaars, to festivals, to concerts and ballet, there is a multitude of opportunities in Payette, Washington and Malheur counties in December.

4f285c81c0ee8.imageSunday, December 1st kicks off the season with the annual Help Them to Hope Christmas Concert. Not only is this event a collaboration of skilled, musically talented folks, but it also is a fundraiser for the Help Them to Hope campaign. This year marks the 20th year for the Concert and is free to the public. Donations are obviously appreciated and used to provide Christmas joy to families in need, in our area.

Stonecroft Ministries is holding their monthly, Ladies Night Out on Tuesday December 3rd. This month’s theme is “Catch the Christmas Spirit”. Linda Barton of Payette, will present a program sharing customs and ornaments from around the world with a Christmas sing-a-along.  Jeane Ozawa, Ontario, and Wanda Lehmkuhl, Payette, will perform duets on their  accordions. Inspirational speaker, Kirsten Holmberg, Eagle, ID, will give a talk entitled “Through the Trees”.

Santa will show himself at the Ontario Chamber of Commerce’s, Santa Breakfast on Friday, December 6th.


Downtown Payette is holding their annual Christmas on Main Street event from 2:00 to 8:00 pm, on Friday, December 6th. Bring a non-perishable food for the local food pantry and you will receive a punch card. Stop by the Downtown businesses to get your card punched and then be entered into a drawing for some really cool prizes.

For those looking for Christmas gifts and goodies, the 6th Annual Holiday Bazaar will be held at St Alphonsus Hospital in Ontario, on December 6th. A portion of the proceeds from this event will go to the hospital’s, employee assistance. fund.

If, you’ve put on a little pout for missing out on the beautiful Festival of Trees in Ontario last week, then you’ll be thrilled to know that Weiser is holding theirs this Friday and Saturday. The 27th Annual Weiser Festival of Trees will have free admission and a bounty of Christmas delights to experience.FreeVector-Holiday-Tree

Beginning he weekend of December 6th and 7th, and running the following weekend also, is the Holiday Fair at the Malheur County Fairgrounds. Every year, this event draws crafters and businesses from all over with a great variety of products and services.

The Weiser Night Light Parade launches on Friday, December 6th in Downtown Weiser. This event always draws a large crowd, so come early and wear lots of warm clothing.

For those looking to enjoy some holiday music, the Treasure Valley Concert will be held at TVCC. Rebecca Replogle’s choirs perform as the Treasure Valley Chorale, the TVCC Concert Choir and Vocal Jazz singers will perform the evening of December 6th.

Gifts and food will be available at the 8th Annual Christmas Market in Vale. This event will be held on Saturday, December 7th and Sunday, December 8th.

The annual Winter Wonderland Parade in Ontario will launch at 1:00 pm, on Saturday, December 7th. Everybody loves a parade, so what more need I say?

For all you who love touring homes, especially historical ones, there’s an event for you also. It’s the Weiser Christmas Home Tour on Saturday, December 7th.weiser-depot5_web

Winter Festival at the Payette United Methodist Church will be on December 7th also. There will be a huge Nativity Scene, Candlelight Dinner, Live Auction and more.

Christmas in the Park in Fruitland takes place on Saturday the 7th, too. Christmas caroling, Santa and more will be happening in that quaint community.

The Eugene Ballet will be performing the Nutcracker at TVCC on Saturday & Sunday, December 7th and 8th. You can also have Dessert With the Dancers on Sunday afternoon, after the performance.


There’s more music choices for you, with the TVCC Community Bands Concert on Tuesday, December 10th. Then, the Treasure Valley Symphony also hosts their Annual Holiday Concert on Thursday, December 12th at TVCC.

Santa Paws

Not to be forgotten, is ‘man’s best friend” at Santa Paws. Bring your furry family members to Snake River Veterinary Center to have their photo taken with Santa Paws on Saturday, December 14th, just for the price of a non-perishable food item. Donations will go to Help Them to Hope.

And, there’s even still another opportunity for a parade at the beautiful Nyssa Lite Parade on December 14th. Always enchanting and festive to celebrate the Christmas season.

Well, I know that I’m exhausted just from reviewing the Christmas/Holiday related events coming up this month. I’m sure that you too are delighted and impressed with the vast opportunities available to celebrate this month.
