Artists for Kids Robert Manwill Art Auction

Robert's flyer final2The life and death of Robert Manwill, who died in 2009 at the tender age of 8 years old at the hands of his mother and her boyfriend, is a heartbreaking story. The issue of child abuse by family and others is never an easy topic in any circumstances, but one that has to be continually acknowledged, so as to protect the innocent.

The small community of New Plymouth, Idaho, reaches out every year in remembrance of Robert Manwill by holding a Artists for Kids Event which is an art exhibit and auction and then Robert’s Run and a 5K Run on the following day. The purpose of the events is to promote awareness of child abuse and keep Robert’s memory alive.

Proceeds from the art auction will benefit the Robert Manwill Scholarship Fund, through Rose Advocates. The scholarship is awarded to students in Robert’s graduating class at New Plymouth High School, Class of 2019. Profits from the Run will be awarded annually to graduating students at New Plymouth High School.

I admire and applaud the community of New Plymouth for its continued work in keeping Robert Manwill’s memory alive. And more importantly, for providing a voice and healing for those affected by any form of child abuse.
